Preparing for the AFA Health and Supplementary Insurance exam
The health and supplementary insurance exam is not based on a questionnaire, but on a practical scenario: you are advising a client. This preparation material follows this format, featuring dialogue scenarios focusing on basic health insurance and supplementary insurance.
The format of the official exam
No multiple-choice questionnaire: you’ll be having a conversation with a customer and will need to deal with the situation. The assessment covers the full range of basic and supplementary health insurance schemes. It’s not about regurgitating facts; it’s about giving advice.

Examination fees: 100 CHF, payable to the AFA (unrelated to Caelys access).

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the health check-up a questionnaire?
No. It’s a 30-minute practical exercise: you’ll be discussing matters with a client and dealing with their situation. It’s a consultancy exercise, not a test of your knowledge.
Do I need to complete another module before this one?
Yes. The General Skills and Knowledge module must be passed before you can sit the other exams, including the Disease and Complementary modules.
How do you practise for a case study?
Our practical exercises take the form of a conversation with a customer, just like on the day of the exam: you practise giving advice, not just ticking the right answer.
